Deer, hares, otters, hedgehogs, badgers, pine martens and many other mammals live in the Galloway forest. They are shy, secretive and difficult to spot. On a mammals day we will take you to some of the forest’s best known mammal watching spots including the Red Deer range and the Wild Goat park, before heading deep into the woods and hills to look for more species.
Travelling deep into the forest will allow you not only to spot mammals but to learn how to recognize the signs they leave behind, like footprints and droppings and also to see some of the techniques we use to keep track of them like camera traps and sticky boxes.
Your experience will finish with a stake out of a remote location where we will wait and see what emerges as darkness falls.
